Save My Face from Keloids!


Tony has been suffering from keloid growths through most of his life and he joins The Doctors in hopes of transforming his appearance once and for all.

The growths began at the age of 9 and when he reached his 20s, keloids started to form on his face after cutting himself while shaving. In an effort to remove them, Tony had surgery on the growths, but they only returned even bigger than before.

The keloids have taken a serious toll on Tony. “I secluded myself… I pushed a lot of people out of my life, because I didn’t want to be around other people. I didn’t want people looking at me, I didn’t want people whispering, people pointing.” he shares with The Doctors. His sister Tracey says he missed out on many family events and gatherings because of his condition.

In addition to the emotional pain, Tony says the keloids cause him physical pain, at times have a burning sensation and are constantly itchy. The pain is so severe that some nights he is unable to sleep and he’s even contemplated suicide because of them.

Bravely, Tony joins the panel with ER physician Dr. Travis Stork and plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon to share his story.

“The most difficult part is dealing with people. If people would just come and talk with me and find out the person that I am, instead of trying to judge me from what they see,” he says. Tony is a teacher and tells The Doctors that, ironically, children react better to his keloids compared to most adults.

He explains that he has come forward in hopes of bringing awareness to other people suffering from keloids. In his own life, he has a sibling who has a growth that she is embarrassed to show and a student with one behind her ear. “Just be who you are… accept it. I’m hoping there is some kind of solution to this,” he says, offering words of encouragement to others who might be afraid to be open about their keloids.

Meeting Big Ed 

dr. gundryBig Ed visited Dr. Gundry based on a referral from another physician who had examined and concluded that it would be impossible to operate on him. The physicians’ diagnosis was backed up by an angiogram. 

Big Ed went back to Dr. Gundry after six months weighing 45 pounds less. He wanted to have a repeat of the angiogram. Big Ed had completely changed his diet as he was now taking supplements and herbs. When he went back to Dr. Gundry all he wanted to know was whether his blood vessels state had improved. 

At first Dr. Gundry was reluctant on repeating the angiogram but to satisfy both their curiosity he decided to do it. Much to his surprise, the blood vessels’ blockages had reduced by over 50%. 

This was the first time that Dr. Gundry had witnessed such a reduction that was both sizeable and quick. He and Ed met a number of times after he conducted a bypass that was successful to discuss dietary changes. 

Meeting Ed inspired Dr. Gundry to conduct more research on heart related issues and obesity as at the moment Dr. Gundry was overweight. Think about it – one of the basic foundations of the old way of thinking is that it said you need anywhere between six and eleven servings of bread a day. No wonder people in the U.S. are overweight in historic numbers. 

Even worse, bread products often contain unhealthy ingredients such as high-fructose corn syrup, dyes, and preservatives. Vegetables you should include in your diet on a regular basis include parsley, cauliflower, cabbage, radishes, spinach and green leaf lettuce.
  2. Don’t be afraid to skip a meal –The thought of eating three meals a day has been ingrained in us since childhood. But it won’t hurt to skip a meal – or even an entire day of eating – every once in a while. The human body has evolved over the years when it comes to energy storage. We need to take a break from eating now and then to let the body properly digest everything we’ve eaten over the last few days.
